Juicy

big maters
Oooooo....the plants were started in a greenhouse....totally cheating, I know. But LOOK at them! There will be fresh, juicy tomatoes in no time. The first ripe one will be savored within moments of picking. I will toast a piece of bread, slather it with mayonnaise, add a slice of 'mater, a hint of salt, and taste summer burst alive in my mouth. Mmmmm.

And aren't the babies cute?

In other news, it's time for the annual t-shirt circus. Today's act: 35 shirts, 3 colors. Here are some of them scrunched in a bin:
A mucky mess

Looks like a mess, doesn't it? But then, look at the bottom. You can still see white:
Isn't that amazing?

Isn't that cool? I'm expecting good crystallization and some nice contrast.
Here's the whole batch:
These plastic bins are all repurposed.

They got a little squish, to enhance the mud and then were tucked away in an electric blanket cocoon for their afternoon nap:
Let's all lie down, shall we?

I'll wash them out tonight and keep you posted!

Garden and Kid Post

Tomorrow, I'll share the stamps I carved today. Tonight, I talk about my daughter and one of my Fiber Heros: My Grandma.

Every year, my Grandma Tanguay comes to life in my yard. She lived for her flower gardens (and her fiber arts). Now she lives through the flowers transplanted from her yard. She insisted that these day lillies and irises belong in the same bed because they bloom together:

She called the lillies "Lemon Lillies":
Lemony-Fresh

She had a huge bed of the lillies and these irises all intermingle...30+ years old.
Don't some people call these Blue Flags?

God rest her soul. I miss her, even though I didn't see her very often.

Grandma also passed on the gift of foot dna.

Consequently, in Kid News, the Monkey-Warrior-Elf will be having super powers put in her feet sometime after her 12th birthday. In the mean time, she gets orthotics, $100 sneakers, ibuprofin when they really hurt and a warm rice bag at bed time.
mmmm...goooshy

Transitional

I've got that tingling, fuzzy feeling in my chest today.

My world seems to be up in the air. Nothing feels settled. Several quilt projects are half done, waiting for the spark of inspiration. Every room in my house needs a little work....not really crusty, but in need of a little up keep. I'm in the process of choosing paint colors again. That takes forever for me. It's so easy in my work and so difficult in my home. Why is that? The weather is the chaotic....mud mixed with snow, puddles and ice, green in one friend's yard, barren in mine. Oy!

Here's a little green in my house:

This amaryllis suddenly burst into life after months of not being watered. I love how plants to that....react to the longer days and prove you wrong about being dead. The photo is actually older. I've been waiting for a chance to share it with you and will post the photo progression in my sidebar every day.

I think the real cause for my tentative feelings is because yesterday I accepted a comission--a substantial comission. Comission work has not gone well for me. I develop hangups that cause me to procrastinate and then it all goes haywire. Every time I take one on, I promise myself that I won't screw it up....yet I always do. Currently I have five in the docket and am working on heart quilts instead. Not good business.

So, once again, I'll control what I can today. I'll do laundry and pick up the house. My sewing machine will wait patiently. Maybe there'll be time for a little stitching this evening.
